Cabo - The Sweet and the Salty

As most of you know by now I left my job in Medical sales almost exactly a year ago to pursue careers involving my two passions, travel and yoga. So now I teach Yoga (regular and with goats

😊) and I am a Travel Agent!!!

Now when I travel I choose my locations & lodging for 3 reasons: 1. To see if this would be a good place to send my clients 2. To see if this would be a good place to host one of my future Yoga Retreats 3. And of course, to hopefully have a little fun

On my most recent journey I choose 3 All Inclusive resorts from the AM Resorts Family so I could compare what each has to offer. For those that don’t know Breathless, Dreams and Secrets are sister properties that are all geared toward a different demographic.

Here’s the sweet!!!

Breathless Cabo San Lucas draws singles, couples and groups and is geared more toward travelers that like to mix-n-mingle and enjoy high energy events. The location of this resort is truly ideal for those looking for a nightlife and adventure! All of the rooms over look the Marina, you are beachfront to Medano Beach which is one of the only swimmable beaches in Cabo and you can walk to town in minutes! The resort is pretty small, but it offers 2 infinity edge pools with stunning views. If you love lush tropical greenery and palm trees however, this is not the place for you. It has a very simple modern design that works well for the setting but might not encompass the atmosphere that many seek while on a beach vacation.

Dreams Cabo San Lucas is geared more toward families with small children or babies. The beach is beautiful, but the waters are too rough for swimming. There are 2 pools, one for families and one for adults only (all though I saw lots of couples with their sleeping babies here too). The family pool here is very basic, meaning NO play areas, slides, toys or splash pads for the kiddos. In comparison, I was blown away by the kids zone, the big water slides, lazy rivers and KID SPECIFIC POOL at the Dreams Playa Mujeres. That’s why I think this spot would be ideal for Families with kiddos 4 and under

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos is for Adults Only and is meant for couples, romance and offers a more low-key kind of party. It too has an amazing beach that is unsafe to swim in but the views from the rooms and the bluffs are truly amazing. The location is secluded so it’s best to come here if you plan to stay on resort or only venture out for a couple excursions. The golf course wraps around this property so if you love to golf then won’t find a much more convenient option!

All of these resorts are ALL INCLUSIVE meaning premium drinks and food are ALL INCLUDED. However, the food at the Dreams and the Secrets was far from delicious. In fact, the majority of is was barely edible. The breakfast buffet was moderate. The only thing worth while were sushi rolls and spring rolls at the Asian restaurant but the steaks at the Italian restaurant and the TACOs (Hello we're in Mexico!!! How can you screw up TACOs???) were all TERRIBLE!!! Room service food was meeehhh as well. I stayed at the Dreams and Secrets in Playa Mujeres a month ago and the food was MUCH MUCH better there!!!!

Soooo back to my 1 2 3….

1. Yes, I would send my clients to the Breathless Cabo San Lucas, but the Secrets and the Dreams get two thumbs down until they fix the food situation.

The food and drink options at the Breathless overall were MUCH MUCH better but the kicker is the location! It’s an Adults Only resort and I think it’s ideal for those that love to fish, party, explore Cabo and spend a little down time in the spa or infinity pools. The rooftop club/bar is supposed to be amazing as well, but I didn’t get to check it out because of the rain

2. Nope, Cabo is not the right fit for the type of Yoga Retreat I’d like to plan

3. Yes! Thanks to Rachel and Megan I had a blast!!! And luckily, we found La Lupita in San Jose and were finally able to get some DAMN GOOD TACOS!!! Just a tip for future travelers, don’t tip the DJ until he plays the sings you request!
